About the Opportunity: 

Shermco is seeking experienced and motivated Senior Level Field Service Test Technicians (NETA 3/4) to join our team. In this role, you will travel to industrial and commercial customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and commission low, medium, and high-voltage electrical systems (480V to 600kV). The ideal candidate is safety-focused, technically skilled, and thrives in dynamic field environments.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, testing, and troubleshooting on electrical power systems at customer job sites across the state and bordering states

  • Conduct instrument and power transformer testing, including Doble, TTR, and insulation resistance tests

  • Perform cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot)

  • Test and calibrate electro-mechanical and solid-state relays (preferred)

  • Troubleshoot and test automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and circuit breakers (low to high voltage)

  • Calibrate power metering and perform moderately complex relay testing

  • Accurately collect and document data for customer reports

  • Rotate on-call duty for emergency response and respond promptly to customer needs

  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company standards

  • Other duties as assigned that you are trained to do

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in electrical systems preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role or as a NETA Technician in the utility or electrical testing industry

  • NETA Level 2, 3, or 4 certification preferred (or equivalent experience considered)

  • Preferred: OSHA 30, MSHA, NFPA 70E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED certifications (training can be provided)

  • Strong understanding of electrical testing equipment and procedures

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with clients and internal teams

  • Must be willing to travel regularly, including overnight stays, and respond to emergency call-outs

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
