Overview

Join our team of leaders in electrical power system maintenance, repair, testing & training. Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced drivers to work in our Dallas Motor Shop. This person will be responsible for deliveries, pickups, material handling and excellent customer service. Shermco Industries has one of the largest motor & breaker shops in the Southwest and is the cleanest, safest and best organized shop in the country. Shermco is ISO certified, a member of EASA, AWEA, PEARL and is accredited by NETA, PEV, SKF & ANAB

Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads vehicles by crane, hand, or by use of hand truck or dolly
  • Pads, stacks, and secures items in position on truck to prevent damage during shipment
  • Delivers and stacks merchandise on customer’s premises
  • Informs supervisors of customer requests
  • Cleans truck, tools, and equipment
  • Performs other routine duties 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience as a flatbed driver, proficient using chains with binder straps and tarps with bungees; must be able to drive a standard transmission
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to drive a forklift up to 20,000 pound capacity

 

Requirements:
  • Class A CDL is required; X Endorsement is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel.  

Pay Range

USD $20.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
