Overview

The Director of Asset Management; Electrical Test Equipment is responsible for developing and executing strategic asset management programs for all specialized testing, diagnostic, and maintenance equipment used in the electrical power industry. This role ensures the availability, reliability, and regulatory compliance of field equipment assets, while optimizing lifecycle cost and supporting operational performance across multiple regions.

 

Shermco Industries is seeking a Director of Asset Management; Electrical Test Equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Asset Strategy & Lifecycle Management
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive Asset Management strategy for low, medium and high-voltage Testing and Maintenance Equipment (e.g., test sets for batteries, circuit breakers, transformer oil, insulation resistance, current transformers, grounding, cable, IR cameras, ohmmeters).
    • Oversee the full lifecycle of equipment assets—from procurement and deployment to maintenance, calibration, and retirement.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Ensure all equipment is tested, maintained, calibrated, and documented according to industry standards (NETA, OSHA, IEEE) and specific customer requirements. 
    • Collaborate with field operations, engineering, and safety teams to prioritize equipment availability and readiness for outage work, testing cycles, and emergencies.
    • Partner with Operations, Finance, Quality and company Executives to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives, performance targets, and reporting
  • Fleet Optimization & Data Management
    • Lead initiatives to digitize asset inventory / tracking, using systems to monitor utilization, condition, maintenance calibration, and performance metrics.
    • Leverage asset data to drive continuous improvement, optimize fleet size / mix and extend equipment service life.
    • Create and measure SLA’s to drive program success
  • Vendor & Procurement Management
    • Manage vendor relationships and support contract negotiations for equipment procurement / lease / rentals, calibration services, repair, and warranty management.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership while maintaining or improving performance and safety standards.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure all equipment meets regulatory, safety, customer and insurance standards.
    • Coordinate with Quality and  support internal audits, ISO standards, and client-facing compliance documentation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Asset Management. Field Operations,maintenance within the Electrical Power, Utility,  preferred, consulting experience a plus
  • Knowledge of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment used in substations and transmission/distribution systems and facility infrastructure.
  • Strategic thinker who thrives on solving complex problems and can move seamlessly between high-level planning and tactical execution
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage cross functional initiatives from concept to execution
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
  • Proven leadership, influencing and change management experience across multi-site or regional operations. Excellent communication, analytical, and vendor management skills.

Pay Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $220,000.00 /Yr.
