Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) with expertise in power systems design to join our Shermco team. The ideal candidate will lead complex electrical design and construction projects, ongoing sustaining work in advanced technology, healthcare, industrial, data center facilities

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:

 

Engineering Leadership:

· Work as a Sr. Electrical Engineer to grow our electrical engineering services.

· Responsible for producing deliverables with a team of designers and junior engineers, in the support of our customers.

· Ensure that electrical engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and studies are conducted according to IEEE and NFPA (industry)standards, and Shermco excellence.

· Review and approve ongoing and completed engineering work ensuring deadlines are met, and work is completed with accuracy and high quality.

· Responsible for making onsite visits to customer sites and interacting with customers to gather critical information, resolve project issues, customer concerns, and review engineering plans. Fast pace, dynamic projects

· Work with sales and support staff on the estimating and bidding of new projects; co-present project proposal to prospective customers.

 

Engineering Analysis:

· Review and direct short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, and arc-flash analysis to ensure system safety and reliability performed by junior engineer

· Develop detailed Construction documents, specifications,

· Prefabricated power system experience

· Operating procedures, equipment operating supervision, Method of Procedure, sequence of operations

 

Electrical Distribution Design:

· Design and modify electrical distribution systems, including motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, breakers, fuses, transformers, capacitor banks, current and potential transformers, protective relays, and control systems.

· Create, review, and revise complete electrical drawing packages and specifications.

 

Project Management:

· Lead engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

· Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to define project requirements and expectations.

 

System Troubleshooting & Solutions:

· Diagnose electrical system issues and develop effective, practical solutions to resolve system deficiencies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; with experience focused in Power Systems. A professional engineer licensed (PE) is preferred.

· At least 7 years of engineering experience with power systems, preferably with system design.

· Must have experience with low voltage equipment for power distribution.

· Excellent Experience in applying the NEC, NFPA70E and local codes.

· Experience in short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, motor starting and power quality studies.

· Experience using power system software such as SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, Easy Power, or other power system modeling software.

· Knowledge and use of proper drafting techniques. Experience using AutoCAD a plus.

· Ability to read and extract information from project plans and specifications.

· Excellent technical writing skills.

· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Utility company coordination

· Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate in English via verbal and written methods and be comfortable and effective doing so directly to customers and co-workers.

 

Other Requirements:

· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests

· Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check

· Must have a valid driver’s license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record

· Must be available for periodic domestic travel.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
