Shermco Canada is seeking a Field Specialist to join our industry-leading electrical power system testing and commissioning team.

 

As part of one of the largest and most respected field services organizations in the industry, you’ll work alongside exceptional leaders, take ownership of critical projects, tackle complex technical challenges, mentor technical teams, and serve as a trusted advisor in delivering safe, reliable power solutions to our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute advanced field service work while maintaining an absolute commitment to safety

  • Serve as a senior technical authority on-site, providing expert guidance, troubleshooting, and decision-making

  • Assess complex system conditions and deliver clear, actionable recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and system improvements

  • Plan, manage, and oversee multiple projects by coordinating personnel, equipment, and resources to ensure delivery to client and Shermco standards

  • Support project execution by resolving technical challenges, enforcing safety requirements, and ensuring compliance with company policies

  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior and intermediate technical staff through formal and hands-on training

  • Contribute senior-level expertise to projects involving:

    • Transformer testing

    • Industrial plant and utility protection & relaying

    • Metering schemes

    • Switchgear testing and maintenance

    • Power system design

    • Turnkey substation projects

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Degree in Electrical Engineering, or PSE designation

  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in electrical power system testing and commissioning

  • Proven experience working independently and leading field teams

  • NETA certification (strong asset)

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract
  • Willingness to travel and work out of town, including regular overnight stays
